It’s confirmed, Nate Johnson ahead of Bryson Barnes on depth chart
So if Cam still cannot go by this Saturday when we face off against Weber State, that then means that Nate Johnson is getting the chance to start. I’m so psyched to see what he can do. But of course, this is if Cam can’t go. Which I think will be the case for Utes this Saturday.

Kyle Whittingham said redshirt freshman QB Nate Johnson has been elevated above Bryson Barnes on the depth chart, while Cam Rising remains day to day in his comeback from an ACL injury.

Good call by Whittingham. Makes sense they would go this route until Cam is ready. It could be that Cam is ready this Saturday yet, which just means Johnson is the backup.

I second that. Barnes is great, but I think he wasn’t finding the right rhythm out there. It was time to move on to Johnson.

I knew they’d end up with Johnson, especially after they put him in the 4th against Baylor. Made sense. Lets see him cook.

Bout time they made the call. Well it was really in the 4th quarter last week, I think that’s when it was most likely confirmed he’d be the backup now.

Made sense after last week. We were not in it with Barnes, he just couldn’t get it done. But Johnson came in and helped bring it back. Momentum ended up on our side.

Exactly, keep that momentum and let Johnson start. I think it’s clear that Cam isn’t going to play tomorrow, otherwise it would have been announced already.

I like Barnes, but he wasn’t cuttin it out there. We woulda lost if we kept him in last week.

This is the right call until Cam can go again, if he can go again that is.
