Looks like the Utes will not make the NIT after-all
Posted by TheBeast on March 13, 2023 at 7:34 pmSad news for the Utes as they failed to make the NIT side of the NCAA tournaments. The bracket was recently decided and the Utes were nowhere to be seen, confirming the end of their season as we know it.
Still, they did have a winning season technically, but it was still a failed season as they have nothing to really show for it.
Either way, it’s time the Utes moves on and focus their attention on next season. Can they improve into the next season?

Figures they wouldn’t make it, they’ve been losing left and right, and they probably took that into account when they made their selections.
But still, I think the Utes played their hearts out, and deserve respect for the season they put on. Even if it doesn’t result in any titles, it’s okay. Because this team still did the best they could do and I can’t hate on them for that.

Ah bummer man. I was really hopeful they would still qualify for it. Time to go back to the drawing board and figure out what worked and didn’t and fix those problems.
-
Figures, going on a losing streak like that will cause your ranking to plummet.

A rough ending to what started out as a fairly decent season. But, injuries and problems plagued them near the end. If they had won a couple of their last games, I think they would have made the NIT easily.

Had a feeling they wouldn’t make the cut. Especially after they lost, what was it, 5 games in a row? Or was it 6?
I still think they did great this season, the best they can do.

Damn, I kinda expected them to make the NIT at the least. That sucks! I was looking forward to seeing what they could do.

That losing streak is what killed it for the Utes. If they had won the majority of those losses, they probably would have still made it in. But I think they took the losing streak into account and gave their spot to a better team.

Had a feeling we wouldn’t be seeing them in there. NCAA has to pick teams based on many factors. Even if we were ranked 6th in the Pac-12, it doesn’t change the fact we lost a ton near the end. They probably take that into account.
-
What do you expect? Losing 6 games in a row will do that to a team.
-
I know, it just sucks because they still had a winning season and were ranked 6th last I checked. But I’ll survive as I’m sure the Utes will too. They’ll improve and hopefully have a better 2023-2024 season.

I had a feeling they wouldn’t end up making it in. But, I think they will learn from this year and take it to the upcoming season.

Their season is over, it’s time we moved on. Next season will be here before you know it. Football should hold us over until then. 🙂
-
They would have lost their first game in, lets be honest. They wouldn’t have gotten any further if they did win a game. I don’t think they could hold on for long.
-
I moved on when they failed to do anything in the Pac-12, and that losing streak doesn’t help none either.
-
It sucks that they couldn’t make it in, but knowing the way they’ve been playing, I doubt they would’ve faired any better.
-
I think the NIT is still ongoing too. But yeah, if Utes had won their first game, I assume they wouldn’t have made it much further.

I wish they would have made it, I’m sure the NCAA coulda figured out a way to get them in there. I’m sure there are other teams less off than us.
But, it’s pointless to complain now, the NIT is mostly done with.
