Sack leader Van Fillinger out for the rest of the season

Surprised this wasn’t posted yet, but this weekends game against the Wildcats, DE Van Fillinger ended up sitting out with an injured leg. They don’t exactly say what it is, but that he will be out for the remainder of the season. Which sucks, because he is our sack leader, with 5 sacks, and 18 tackles on the season. He’s someone that will be missed out there no doubt.

Yeah when I heard he wasn’t able to play, I was pretty bummed out. Having him out there on defense has helped us a lot. He’s no slouch, and I hate to see him out the rest of the season. We could’ve used him against the Ducks.

And right near the end of the season and close to when we face Oregon. Will suck to not have him out there, but I think we have a defense that will step up with him gone.

We could have used him for Oregon, but injuries happen and we have to make due with what we have now. Our defense will have to step up going forward, not just for Oregon, this means Stanford and our final games as well. They need to make up for him being gone out there.

  Yup, but now he’s down and out for the rest of the season. Hate to see the guy gone, but he’ll make a comeback next season, better than ever.

Damn, that’s going to hurt not having him out there on defense. He’s really been shining as of late and I hate that we have lost him. Especially so soon to our Oregon matchup in a couple weeks.

Utes need to step up with him being gone. But can they?

  It’ll hurt a bit, but I think we can get by without him. We can’t let one injury bring us down either. I wish him the best in his recovery.

It sucks to see a talent like Fillinger getting taken out. But next year he will be back, and I believe he’ll be even better.

I’m for sure going to miss having him out there, he is a sack leader for a reason. He’s a talented player we’re not going to have out there. So yes, the Utes defense will have to step up with him out.
