Utah Utes AD calls out college basketball voters after latest AP Top 25 poll
Utes were ranked #18 in the AP Top 25 poll after their upset against Colorado. The Utes are currently No. 6 in NET ranking, putting them ahead of a lot of these teams that are ahead in the AP poll. Fans raised this issue and it resulted in our AD Mark Harlan coming out with this little quote about the ranks not matching:
Wake up AP, That’s embarrassing!

Yeah their ranking should be a hell of a lot higher. Like 6 for example. At least pick the right groups. But since it goes on votes, what can you really do?

Harlan and the fans are right, the AP doesn’t seem to get the proper rankings. Utes should be higher up based on their conference record.

Voters don’t know how to vote properly. You should vote for the team with the better conference record and stats. Right?

That’s why I don’t care much about what the AP polls have to say. They aren’t always right.

Same, it’s nice to rank high, but I don’t think it’s something we need to worry ourselves with. As long as our ranking in the game itself shows we’re 6th, than that’s all that matters. This is based on votes and is on popularity. It’s all good.

That’s voters for you, they always go for the bigger teams. Oh well, doesn’t matter much, because I don’t care what the AP polls say anymore.

I know how high we rank, and that’s all that matters. Forget what the AP says, it’s never right anyway.

The AP polls never give off the right rankings. It’s just like a vote where fans or whatever decide on who is best.

I agree, the AP is awful for that. I don’t take their rankings seriously unless they paint us as one of the best teams in the league.
