Utah women’s basketball team moves hotels after racist incidents
This is no good. I’m hearing that Lynne Roberts said her team had to deal with racial hate crimes during their first round game against South Dakota State. It is alleged that people were throwing out the N-Word. Not only that, but it was directed at the team, cheerleaders and even some of the band.
It’s sad racism still is a problem. I thought we were better than this.

Utah coach Lynne Roberts said her team experienced a series of racial hate crimes after arriving at its first NCAA tournament hotel and was forced to change hotels during the event for safety concerns.

It’s mindboggling why people are still this way. Racism gets you nowhere, and helps nothing. I would have moved hotels too.

People can be outright horrible these days. 😞

It’s like we’re going backwards with all this hate. I know the hate is still out there and exists, but it’s still shocking to me how easily some people get racist towards others.

We’ll never rid hate, it’ll always be a part of our world. But, we are seeing a lot less of it these days, but I agree, it’s still a shock to see hate spread anywhere.

Racists, the lot of them. I’m glad the women and staff held their cool, I would have responded to them and called them out.

There is no excuse for this hate in 2024, I thought people were better than this.

These women don’t deserve this hate. But this is the world we live in, hate is everywhere sadly.

I heard recently the police was looking into the allegations. Doubt anything will come of it, but glad to hear they are doing something.

Supposedly the area they were in is a very racist location, and it’s a known issue there.

I doubt anyone is going to get arrested, but it’s nice to see the police taking it seriously.

I doubt it too, but I am hearing that the NCAA is looking to pull future tournaments away from the area, and good. If you can’t get a hold of your racist citizens, then we’ll pull our sports out of the city completely.

Utah, South Dakota State and UC Irvine were staying at hotels in Idaho, with Gonzaga as the host school, because of a lack of hotel space in the Spokane area.
