Utes’ defense delivering on 2 key offseason priorities
Utes defense is hitting on all cylinders right now. We’re doing awesome against the run right now and not only that, we’re getting a decent share of sacks and are getting turnovers. So that’s working great for us. But, we need to see some better defense in our pass game, I think that’s where we struggle a bit on defense.
Texas Tech has a good pass game, and our defense has struggled there, so it’ll be an interesting test for us.

No. 16 Utah has been good against the run and producing ‘havoc plays,’ but will need to tighten up coverage ahead of big test vs. No. 17 Texas Tech.

They delivered alright. This season has been solid so far. Lets keep the trend going.

Our pass defense can be a problem, but I don’t think it will be as big of a problem as we are thinking. I am not too worried.

This is my question mark for tomorrow. Can the Utes play defense against this high powered Texas Tech offense? I want to see it happen.

Run defense is A++
Pass defense is probably a C+ right now. But, there is always room for improvement.

Step up the pass defense and this defense will be the top of the Big 12.

They already have the makings for a strong defense, and if they can find a way to play better on the pass, I think they can stop anyone.

I am happy with this defense. It could be better, but I think they gradually improve week to week, and I think that shows already.

Our offense is going to do most of the work. I really think we will find a way to score enough, even if our defense doesn’t do great against the pass.

I liked what our defense did this weekend against Texas Tech. Even though we lost, we held them to only 10 in the first half, and scoreless in the 3rd. Wasn’t until the 4th when they really started to pull away.
But yeah, Dampier’s injury and poor play didn’t help. Defense did what they could.
