Whitt almost was head coach for the Tennessee Volunteers in 2010?
BYU head coach Kalani Sitake, who was a linebackers coach from 2005-2008 and as defensive coordinator from 2009-2014 said that Kyle Whittingham almost took a job with the Tennessee Volunteers in 2010, during the Utes move to the Pac-12. But, that obviously never happened.
Sitake was then hired by BYU back in 2015.
What would our chances have been back then if Whitt had left us? Would we have still done good without him?

Things would have gone so much differently he he left us. I’m glad he chose to stick with us all these years, because he really made the Utes what they are today. Without him, I don’t see the success we’ve had in the past decade.

I don’t think the Utes would be where they’re at without the brilliance that is Whittingham. Without him, I don’t think this team would nearly be as capable of what they are now.

I don’t think so either. Utes were good, but without Whitt out there, I don’t think we’d see the success we’ve had ever since.

I am so glad that never happened. I think he’d be an awesome coach for any team, but losing him at any time would have sucked big time for us.

Part of me wants to see how that would have worked, but I am happy it didn’t happen. Can you imagine the past 14 or so years without Whitt? I couldn’t.

Imagine that, the landscape would have been so different if Whitt left us. I’m so glad he stayed, because I don’t think we would have had the success we’ve had without him.

I don’t think he would have taken the job. Remember, he was already leading this team, and why would you want to make the switch? I think deep down Whitt knew the Utes where the team he wanted to back.

And he probably would have went on a run with them, but thank goodness he chose to stick by us.
