Micah Ashman, Merit Jones and Kai Roberts have been selected in MLB Draft
Looks like we have three Utes baseball stars making it into the MLB, two of which are pitchers Micah Ashman and Merit Jones. Outfielder Kai Roberts was also selected in the draft. Here is where each players went:
- Micah Ashman – Detroit Lions – Pick 326 in Round 11
- Merit Jones – Minnesota Twins – Pick 608 in Round 20
- Kai Roberts – San Diego Padres – Pick 210 in Round 7
Nice to see so many Utes baseball players making it in the draft like this. So awesome to see.

Sweet, sounds like it was the most Utes players taken in a MLB draft since 2017. Been a long time coming.

So happy to see these guys make it to a team. I think all of them have real potential to be big stars in the MLB too.

I see big things for Kai Roberts. He made it out of the draft before Ashman and Jones and I think even those two will find success in the MLB.

Yes same here. I think Kai will be the best out of these three going forward. I think Ashman and Jones will find some success, but not nearly as much as Kai will.

That’s awesome news. I am happy for each of them. I don’t expect them to be major stars anytime soon, but I think they will do fine enough.
